Chill Tips Review: Nails for a Night Out
My husband and I attended a fantastic Christmas party at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this past weekend, and we had such a wonderful time! It had been ages since I had to dress up, so I decided to go for it. I treated myself to a beautiful dress and stylish shoes and even purchased a nail kit. I must admit, I hate spending money on my nails even though I like how they look. I generally prefer my nails short since I'm on the computer most of the day, juggling work, the blog, and everything else. Long nails just don’t fit my lifestyle. But for this special occasion, I thought, why not? It felt great to kick back and enjoy the festive vibe!
I haven't used fake nails since the days of Lee Press-On Nails from the 80s and 90s, so I was skeptical about how they'd hold up. Could they really stay on for the evening, let alone last a whole week?
I decided to put the nails on about two hours before heading to the party. That gave me some time to get ready without feeling rushed—I'd already taken care of my hair and put on my pantyhose, just in case the length of the nails was a hassle. I’m glad I did!
Getting used to the nails was a challenge. I thought it would be easier, but it made my usual routine trickier. Typing on my phone and doing everyday tasks turned into a juggling act. Still, I was pleasantly surprised by how resilient the nails were! They stayed put and felt surprisingly solid throughout the night. Overall, it was a fun experience, even if it took some getting used to!
Just before removing them. They looked great.
Some beginner tips:
Take your time and don’t rush.
Have some rubbing alcohol ready because the glue will seep up. Your fingers will stick to it. I had some challenges getting glue on the first two nails, but I was fine afterward.
Let them dry longer (hold them for a minute, not 30 seconds).
Within about 10 minutes, they started to feel pretty solid. From that point forward, I didn’t think they would fall off.
They were great, but I have a busy week and wanted to get them off. These nails are not made for quick use. I do not doubt they will last a week (maybe even longer if you’re careful). I spent most of Sunday morning and afternoon soaking my hands to get them off. The glue was like super glue. I watched a lot of informative YouTube Videos to pass the time, but this was not how I planned to spend the day.
Here are my lessons learned:
If you are looking for quick use, get a different product.
If you want something that will last, this likely will work great (I didn’t even get that far).
Watch your nail length. If you can’t manage long nails, get a short version. I plan to try that next.
Warm water (as hot as you can tolerate) seems to work best. Once the water is at room temperature, the soaking process is slow and may not even work.
You can see I had a lot of glue to file afterward.
Would I recommend Chill Tips? Yes, to someone who wants to wear them for a week. They are stylish, affordable, and great for long-term use. I will be trying this again in the future with short nails since I know they will last. I may have to let my nails heal a little first, though.
Let me know what “press on nails” you use. Do you wear short or long nails? I would love to hear your suggestions.
